Vines prevent trees from growing correctly or at all

I know for a fact this didn't happen before because it used to work fine before the update in 1.15.2, and there is nothing in the changelogs that indicates any change about this.

The issue is that since the updates, vines started to make tree growing act weird or not grow at all. i tested that small trees seem to grow fine (apparently, they just replace the vines or break them) but tall 2x2 trees do not grow at all if there are vines above withing a range of 2 blocks from the saplings for the 2x2 jungle tree (3 blocks away for 2x2 spruces). I tested this, tried to remove all the vines from a 2x2 jungle tree and it grew normally, but if i don't remove the vines, the trees don't grow. Among the big tall trees, neither the jungle nor the spruce do grow with these vines "obstructing" the growth.

The dark oak tree is a special case of its own: it grows but it's completely broken in a hilarious way.

I'm pretty sure this is a bug and not an intended change because as i wrote before, tree growing worked fine in 1.15.2. Is it possible to fix this? It's pretty annoying when you're trying to grow trees near vines, found out about this when tried to grow a mini jungle.

I will post attached images showing the problem.

Edit: 2x2 not 4x4 my bad.
