In response to issue MC-169232 and issue MC-128302 which were closed without documented resolution.
As per the issue documented in those two tickets, I'm experiencing a GLFW exception that has by now been well documented. The response in the other two tickets was what appears to be an almost immediate closure of the ticket followed by a referral to the discord server.
As of Minecraft Snapshot 1.16 this issue is still not resolved with Windows 10 version 2004 build 19041.329
Updated all drivers did not work either (and there was not much to update). The system is completely up-to-date.
Please do not redirect us to a DiScOrD server. That is insulting. Ticketing systems are where issues get tracked, troubleshooted, documented, and resolved. Don't offload that onto discord where no meaningful documentation exists.
The arguments that are being passed to my JVM are the default options with a default install:
-Xmx2G -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M
DOES ANYONE SEE WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS??? The default is not 512Mb. Telling users not to use arguments and to revert to a default when the default is absurd is a slap in the face.
I am not so sure that starting out with 2 Gb of memory right off the bat is the best approach here. Let's try telling the JVM to expect a maximum of 512 Mb as recommended by our very competent customer support:
-Xmx512m -Xms512m -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M
The same result occurs, with the same GLFW exception.
Failed to create window: dgy$a: GLFW error 65542: WGL: The driver does not appear to support OpenGL
Running it with no arguments results in the same error.
I'm currently running a Legion (2019 model) y530 with an 8th-gen Intel Core i7-8759H (6-core). That is well above spec. I also have a NVidia GTX1050Ti.
I don't have OpenGL installed on my machine at all, so if that is a dependency I have to assume it is bundled like all of your other dependencies.
TL;DR:
Update drivers? No. Is it a memory issue? No. Do I want to ask on a discord server? Absolutely not.
Is my hardware so old it doesn't support the current build? No. Per Mojang's own requirements the recommended spec is a i5-4690 (Q1 '14).
