While in its fire-breathing phase where it sits on the central fountain in the End, the Ender Dragon is immune to damage. Hitting with it a sword or shooting it with a bow does nothing. While it is flying around, it seemingly takes damage normally.

As a side note, the Wither also seems to take damage normally.
