The bug
When the /locate biome command is used on a biome like the modified jungle edge (in my world with seed -2212060853571448367, for example, but for most other seeds as well) where that biome is nonexistent for at least many thousands of blocks, the command will cause significant amounts of server lag.
To reproduce
- Create a world with seed -2212060853571448367
- /locate biome minecraft:mushroom_fields
→ Notice that blocks don't drop and the game doesn't react
