opening chests in randomly generated Nether portals. They're empty.

What I Expected to happen was...:

To open the chest and find anything gold in it even golden apples both enchanted and not or golden carrots and either flint and steal or fire charges and rarely obsidian

What actually happened was...:
i opened it and it was empty
