How to reproduce
- Set your base health attribute to 1
/attribute @s minecraft:generic.max_health base set 1
- Give yourself the hunger status effect to take damage until you die
/effect give @s minecraft:hunger 9999 255 true
- After dying, I give yourself hunger again
The respawn screen kept reappearing, my character's model was tilted and shaded red due to the entity dying animation. You can move around, and I'm not sure if any hitboxes change at all, but it is still quite odd.
I think this is due to the player both dying and regenerating at the same time, so it brings up the respawn ui without the actual need to respawn. But again, I have no idea if I am even explaining this right so here's footage of the steps and the weird stuff that follows:
