Striders don't feel warmth from their heads, even though they are the biggest part of a strider's body. A strider only seems to get warm from lava if the lava touches its legs. The mob should be getting warm if in lava, but the strider doesn't detect lava if it is only touching the strider's head, which doesn't make sense.
