I can’t consistently reproduce this, but as far as I can tell, this is at least part of the relevant flow:

1. Drowned with trident targets player in survival mode-
2. Player changes to spectator or creative mode
3. The drowned keeps throwing their trident at the player

Either way this can be annoying but of course not damage the player. But especially for players in spectator mode, they should be ignored.
