In this snapshot 20w15a, there was a little change with Strider where they get cold skin/texture when they are out of lava. This also affects the baby varients of course.

However, when Baby Striders ride the adult Striders when its out of lava, Baby Strider still has its warm skin while adult still has the cold skin.
