This bug applies in all versions of Minecraft. (at least to 1.12.2 to 1.15.2)
Minecraft freezes randomly while playing for some time, this could be seconds or hours, totally random. This started a few months after I installed my new GPU, a GeForce 1060. I have been playing with this bug over a year now and it's very frustrating, it even made me play less.
Things I've tried:
- Reinstall drivers and other unrelated drivers aswell.Reinstall drivers and other unrelated drivers aswell
- Reinstall Minecraft
- Installed, Reinstalled and Uninstalled Optifine.
- Reinstalling Java
- Changing versions of Minecraft
- Deleting every file that could be related to Minecraft or Java
- Using Visual Studio to debug application (no effect)
- Used lowest config available in game and disabling every other thing.
- Resetting Nvidia configs
- Capping Minecraft to 60fps (some times would prevent to freeze every second)
- other things, I can't remember now.
Information:
- No, no log is created by the console or text file.
- No, no log is created by the Launcher.
- This is a freeze, not a crash.
- although freezes happens randomly, the more Minecraft is used, the less the game will take to crash in future startups.
how to reproduce:
Open the game, load a world, wait. (it could freeze faster if you load chunks)
After that, the game freezes. If you click the window, the loading cursor appears and the only thing left is to force close, Click again and windows will ask if you want to terminate the process (not even responding). If left for 10 minutes, Minecraft will crash itself, still with no log. If using optifine, the screen will be blue. If playing multiplayer, the client won't disconnect server until game is force closed. It won't crash on the Title Screen.
Maybe it's due to RAM (very unlikely) or something of D3D being lost (ocurred one time playing Minecraft Dungeons and very rarely on other games, unrelated maybe.)
Some times (low chance), a "Java has stopped" window will appear. Here are the details: (SPANISH)
