In creative mode, if the player breaks a bone block and immediately after places a bone block in the same spot, the bone block appears on its side even if the player had their crosshair on the top or bottom of the block. By 'immediately' I mean fast enough to the point where you don't see the other bone block disappear, the process is so fast it appears as though the block has shifted onto its side rather than one block being replaced by another.
