The bug
When the recipe book is open and you have a compass connected to a lodestone in your inventory it points to spawn, not the lodestone. Once the recipe book is closed it reverts back to the lodestone. As seen in pictures below, compass is in top right corner of inventory and the lodestone is place off to the right.
