I repeatedly dig out blocks with an Eff 4 diamond shovel all to no avail. Even quickly broken blocks (e.g. - sandstone) sometimes glitch

Multiple times now I will remove a block and it doesn't properly "break". The block is still there in ghost form and I need to interact with the block (e.g. - place another block in its place, put down a torch in the block area or sometime just open-handed right click) for it to return. After attempting to mine it again and again (sometimes out of frustration I just hold down the button and watch the block break many times) the block won't be gone. 

This bug is quite frustrating. It impacts game play drastically as I never really know when quickly mined blocks will just pop back into existence.
