The Bug
Certain types of plants, when planted on farmland, can be destroyed without dropping any item if another plant is placed in its position.
The vegetation that is affected (destroyed without dropping an item when another plant is in its place) is listed below:
- Grass (short and tall)
- Ferns (short and tall)
- Crimson and warped roots
- Nether sprouts
See this video: MC-171089.mp4![]()
If plants like saplings, flowers, azaleas, sweet berries, fungus, or dripleaves are placed on farmland and then replaced with another plant, the placement will fail (not be able to be placed), which is likely intended.
Steps to Reproduce
- Place farmland and water near each other so that the farmland is hydrated.
- Place any of the vegetation listed above in the dot points.
- Place another plant in place of the vegetation (not the same).
Observed Behavior
The original plant is replaced by the newly-placed plant without dropping any item, even if it drops when broken with the player's fist, such as crimson and warped roots.
Expected Behavior
The placement of the new plant fails, to create consistency with other plants that don't allow replacement.
