when you go in the creative menu search and use numbers 1-9 to place the blocks quickly, with cobblestone sometimes when there is (as far as I know) 4 blocks including the cobble in the hot bar, when I place the cobble down it quickly makes the cobble I placed disappear, as well as the cobble in my hot bar.
