      Summary:

      New launcher unavailable on arm,

lwjgl available on arm32 and arm64 but not included in the java edition of minecraft.

      Description:

The new launcher (2.x) contains a native binary that does not run on linux arm32 and arm64 architectures (raspberry pi 4 b). The old launcher (1.x) works fine, but the game will only run after jumping through several hoops, mainly having to do with linking the game up with lwjgl, which is also available on arm32 and 64 bit archs. (see e.g. https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=249875 and an example of it running here: https://youtu.be/cKOxh3fUE4M?t=370 )

Minecraft is written beautifully in a platform independent language. The new, binary only launcher hinders this a bit, but minecraft java edition on raspberry pi is a low hanging fruit I recommend you pick.
