Now chickens are supposed to drop a cooked chicken when killed by fire or lava, but as you can see, it only happens sometimes. The cooked chicken is supposed to go in the hopper but usually does not, rendering my farm somewhat useless. The cooked chicken also does not appear to be burned by the lava, otherwise there would be a hissing sound.
