I have had several worlds that I have been working for a while that were working just fine. However, there's always one that I play for a while at a time.
I would play it, save and quit, and close the game off when the process is complete. When I come back to play some more, the world I had been working on will just inexplicably not be on the world selection list anymore. I would look through the ".minecraft" file, and the world in question will still be there, but I can't play it ever again without going through a cumbersome series of cutting and pasting the world's data into a new one without the guarantee of it working again or having the new copy just disappear soon after. I've heard the world just corrupts, but I don't know if it's got to do with my computer being slow or if I happen to not be saving and quitting (which probably isn't the problem anyway as I always press save and quit before closing the game).
When looking at the screenshots, bear in mind the world in question is "WAY LILNE".
I've also deal with this bug since like 1.12 or so, I don't remember when I first dealt with it.
