When I have two stacks of food in my inventory, the two stacks will turn into two stacks of 63 and if I try to leave the game and rejoin or eat the food it will permanently delete one stack from my inventory. This is in Vanilla Minecraft. Launcher, Game, and server are completely unmodified.
