Fix Version/s: Minecraft 14w20b
Update 1.13-pre1: sometime since 18w07c, caves now cut through mycelium, but still won't cut through the snow blocks of an Ice Spikes biome.
Update 2018-06-29: it is noted that in the 1.13 snapshots, caves won't cut through Red Sand from Badlands either.
Note: In case the seeds and coordinates below do not show this issue anymore, try the following:
- Create a new world
- Use /locatebiome to find a biome with the affected block
- Switch to Spectator mode
- Fly through the ground (possibly with Night Vision) and search for caves ending near the surface
