PLEASE HELP!!! Minecraft is broken!!! For background, I began playing Minecraft on the 1.3.2 version, where I created a “vanilla” Single-Player world in “Survival” mode. Everything worked perfectly. After some time, I transferred this world to Multi-Player and hosted a server (downloaded directly from minecraft.net) with a “Whitelist” that only allowed my girlfriend and I into the world. We live at the same address and connected via router physically plugged into each PC. Again, everything worked perfectly. Only after downloading the 1.4.2 update from 1.3.2 did the problems begin. Please read ALL the information below and help if you can!
I have been dealing with two distinct (and perhaps related) problems on Minecraft ever since updating to version 1.4.2. They are as follows:
1.) Game Crashes After Closing Chests - When I attempt to move items to/from chests the game crashes. This is an intermittent problem that eventually crashes the game, usually after opening/closing no more than 5 chests. This is true for new and saved worlds, single and multi-player games, affecting both users on the server. I will reiterate that this is a “vanilla” game straight from the Minecraft website with absolutely no “mods” whatsoever. This problem did not occur until after the 1.4.2 update and now consistently crashes my game, rendering it virtually unplayable.
2.) Inventory Glitch – When moving items around in my inventory, said items reposition themselves elsewhere in the inventory at random. For example, after placing a sword in the first slot on the left of the bottom row, the sword “moves” to another inventory slot after exiting the inventory screen. I will reiterate that this is a “vanilla” game straight from the Minecraft website with absolutely no “mods” whatsoever.
Believe me when I say that I have exhausted all possible resources trying to find a solution to these issues. I have tried all of the following with no success:
A.) Uninstall/Reinstall Minecraft and Minecraft Server.
B.) Break chests in my existing world and picking up the items inside (the theory was that the items in the chests did not update to 1.4.2 with the rest of the game, and this would make said items do so).
C.) Copy/Paste my existing world from 1.3.2 into the .minecraft folder (%appdata%) and playing it as single player (the theory was that my saved world from 1.3.2 did not update to 1.4.2. By copying/pasting it into .minecraft, playing it, then copying/pasting back in the server folder, the saved world would then play normally in 1.4.2).
      D.) Uninstalling/Reinstalling Java.
E.) Completely eliminate everything Minecraft from my PC (except for the registry, which I don’t know enough about to mess with) and then start from scratch with a completely new game.
As you could have guessed, none of these solutions worked. Any help would be most appreciated!
