      I was building the floor in my house out of spruce logs when I accidentally misplaced one, so I went to break it with my axe, and all the logs turned into saplings, taking away my logs in the process.

      What I expected to happen was...:
      When I broke the log, it should have dropped itself without affecting any other blocks around it.

      What actually happened was...:
       In reality, breaking that log turned all my logs into saplings, as I was building my floor on top of grass. I have tested this out only with the spruce and oak logs, and both produce identical results.

      Steps to reproduce:
       1. Find an area of grass/dirt, or build one if you aren't nearby one (size doesn't matter).{color}
       2.  Get yourself an axe of any type (I used stone, but other types should work as well)
       3.  Make sure all logs involved are touching in some way or form.
       4.  Break any section of the logs.
       5.  If done correctly, all logs should turn into their respective saplings, not dropping anything.
