I created a personal resource pack that changes how some of the characters look and it involved replacing the 'ǫ' (lowercase O with 'ogonek') character and thus modifying default.json. What I typed in that image was 'Ǫǫ' (first char is uppercase O with 'ogonek'), however, it appears that even by completely eliminating '\u01eb' from default.json, the character 'ǫ' is still not forced as the Unicode font. (I will provide the resource pack as zip file)
