In 1.13 I have already noticed that you can't close the creative inventory when you are in the search tab (with "TAB") but in 1.14 you can't close the inventory at all. Not even in survival or the other gamemodes. With the default key "e" everything works fine. The "TAB" key did also work fine in previous versions so I do not know what happend there.
