Ever since 1.14 dropped, the villagers in a villager I've been maintaining and attempting to expand since 1.13 has blown up at an alarming rate. I initially was under the impression that additional beds were required for the villagers to breed but, the town has grown at such a rate that the number of beds probably doesn't even matter anymore.
Prior to the update there was about 12 or 14 villagers and 2 golems. I added a bed to every originally generated house in the town prior to the update but, added more beds to accommodate for all the additional children.
Since the update, the town's population has grown at such a rate that I can't keep track of them anymore and the golem count has skyrocketed to a whopping 10 (maybe even more because I've lost track of how many there are at this point).
Could someone please explain what the new requirements are for villagers to breed or if there's a way to stop them from breeding?
There's so many villagers and golems that I can't even thin out the numbers myself.
I'm starting to think that there isn't an actual means of stopping villagers from breeding once a bed is placed (regardless of if they're indoors or outdoors). There's a considerably larger ratio of villagers than beds.
There's times where I can't find a single available bed in the town but find 3 or 5 villagers all standing around occupied beds.
Are the villagers supposed to stop breeding if there isn't enough beds to accommodate for more potential villagers?

Image 2: Does the adjacency of the beds have anything to do with breeding?
