Steps to reproduce:

1. Start charging a crossbow
2. When the crossbow is done charging, immediately release the Use Item/Place Block key and switch to another hotbar slot.

Observed result:
The sound of a crossbow being charged doesn't play. You have a crossbow that is charged but won't fire.

Expected result:
The crossbow gets charged like usual.
