Every time I go to a forest to chop down some oak trees, the frames drop tremendously when I break the oak logs. I don't get that same kind of lag when mining spruce, birch, acacia, jungle, or dark oak, so I'm pretty sure it's only oak. It is simply reproduced by going to a forest with oak trees and chopping a tree down.
