If a bell is rung while the player is holding any block, the block will appear to be placed adjacent to the bell for a fraction of a second, and then will disappear. The block disappears from the player's inventory and does not drop as an item, but reappears after reloading the world. This was tested with a large number of different blocks, and the only one that the issue did not present with was another bell.
