I was making a little minigame using tnt and I noticed this behaviour.
A lot of entities get erased after falling below Y=0 through damage, but that doesn't work with tnt.
For reproducing this problem, run the following command while standing over void:
/summon minecraft:tnt ~ ~ ~ {Fuse:1000000}
