I'm doing a playthrough on hardcore of the latest snapshot, and while in the nether hunting blazes, the times I killed blazes (and wither skeletons) with an arrow, they did not drop any xp or items. They continued to drop with sword combat, and sword-and-then-arrow. It seems that arrows aren't registering that a player shot them, and are not dropping any xp for mob kills as a result.
