When stumbling on new terrain the grass hadn't gotten it's color yet, but when the blocks were updated it was fine again. (I have optifine for graphics hence the "better grass") but this was a server sided issue. all terrain was generated prior to having the paper spigot server.jar, was made on the default server jar.
