What i expect to happen

when filling a space between to pillars of solid blocks with either iron bars, glass pane or stained glass pane with the fill or setblock command , i expect them to join to the solid blocks beside them

what really happens

they don't connect to the solid blocks nor do they update to waterlogged when under water

steps to remake the issue

1. make two pillars on the same x or z coordinates
2. using the fill or setblock command fill the gap between the pillars with either iron bars, glass pane or stained glass pane
