Looks like after making the first tools I can't use them to mine more than one block. Also the count is incorrect when put on a table (seems like something related to the shift-clicking behavior).

Image shows what happens to a wooden pickaxe after shift-clicking to move it to a chest. It just duplicated the tool.

The video linked shows the problem with the tools (shows a shovel, but it's the same for every tool, including swords etc.)
