If you put an item in an empty item frame at the same time that you break the item frame (press left-click and right-click at the same time) then it will remove your item and break the item frame. You will get the item frame back, but not the item that you tried putting inside of it.

I attached a gif (which doesn't have any sound of course) which shows that I had 63 stone, but then after using the bug I only had 62 stone. Also, you can hear the item frame breaking but not the sound of putting the item inside.
