I have been dealing with this error for a while. I have tried perhaps every single solution that I have read. I have

      • Updated my graphics drivers, made sure that the game was not running on Intel Integrated Graphics
      • Changed my drivers to a suggested hotfix (http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4378/)
      • Changed the default Graphics Card to the Nvidia card
      • Used both the old and new minecraft launcher
      • Changed the amount of allocated RAM from 1GB to 2GB's
      • Toggled VSync on and off
      • Toggled VBOs on and off
      • Toggled fobenabled in the AppDate/Roaming/.minecraft/options.txt
      • Tried running the game on Integrated graphics instead with up-to-date drivers
      • Uninstalled and reinstalled the game, making sure to try this with and without deleting the Minecraft AppData folder for both the old and new launcher
      • Restarting the computer after driver updates
      • Change the render distance
      • Uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of Java multiple times

I have tried to connect to multiple servers to make sure it isn't simply one server causing the issue. In fact. apparently it does not matter whether the server I am trying to connect to even exists or not. Typing in jibberish into the direct connect field yields the same result. If I add a server to my server list then it will crash every time I click multiplayer before I even attempt to join one of the servers. On the other hand, singleplayer works fine, and connecting to servers using 1.10 with version 1.10 works fine as well. Minecraft 1.12.1 simply refuses to allow me to play multiplayer.

The following is an excerpt from the error report file.

      IMPORTANT

This is absolutely, positively _not _ a duplicate of https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-32606 as I have tried all the solutions proposed there and this issue occurs in a different part of the game. I have read through tons of bug reports and forum posts in order to try and fix this. So far, none of them have worked. Please actually at least consider looking over the error report before linking me elsewhere.

Additionally, do not tell me to take up this issue with Nvidia, Intel or Oracle. I will take my issue to all parties involved if need be. I'm well aware that this may not be the fault of Minecraft itself, but rather an issue with the graphical drivers not allowing Java to access certain resources. However, since I have not seen this exact issue anywhere else, only very similar issues with solutions that do not work for me, it is certainly possible that this is an issue with how Minecraft interacts with the drivers rather than the other way around. Additionally, an issue with the game itself will be much easier to solve. Considering the fact that Nvidia customer support is, for the most part, non-existent, I would be left with no choice but to do a factory reset on my computer, losing much of my data that I cannot really afford to store on a cloud or backup drive. I prefer the path of least resistance.
