This bug usually happens on multiplayer servers, but I have noticed it happen on singleplayer as well. Sometimes, when you sprint, it rapidly toggles off and on for no reason. This bug has existed since sprinting was first added in Beta 1.8, over 5 years ago. I am surprised that it hasn't been fixed yet.
