I selected the version 1.11.2; however, it affects all versions as far as I know. I frequently play on 1.7.2, 1.9.4 and 1.11.2 but I still crash on all of them. This happens regardless if I'm in a singleplayer world or a multiplayer one. I've googled lots of different solutions and none have helped, I've also made sure that my drivers are up-to-date. There's no real pattern to these crashes... sometimes I can go for a good hour or two without crashing and sometimes I will crash within two minutes of joining a world or server. I've allocated up to 4 GB of ram to the game which should be plenty and I've also played with nothing else open. I don't know why it's crashing so frequently but it's really getting on my nerves. It was never an issue in the past years of owning the game. My system specs are more than enough to run the game at max settings... especially since it's a fresh unmodified version of the game. I've included the log where I crashed about 2 minutes after joining a server. If you need more information, I'd be more than happy to provide it.
