Simply, the servers on the multiplayer servers list are removed sometimes when you run Minecraft. Say if you had Mineplex and Hypixel on your servers list, when you load the list, they are not there. This does not affect connecting with servers or adding new servers, merely deleting the server from the list, and it is a hassle to re-add them.
