I saw there was an update so I decided to start a new world (Survival on Normal), spawned in a snowy biome (Ice Plains I believe?) and opened my game up to LAN so my fiance could join in. She logged in shortly before nightfall, and we started building a shelter only to realize that there were DOZENS more monsters than there should have been. Literally the first in-game night, we saw upwards of 8 Ender Men, easily two dozen zombies, , a smattering of creepers and skeletons (most of the skeletons that spawned were either enchanted or had chain armor - one we saw that first night had both), two Kid Zombies, and ten spiders - all spawning within a 50 block radius of our little shelter, on the first night, when we had a single stone sword between the two of us. The second night, we had cranked the difficulty down to Easy, but the only change was more Creepers spawned instead of Ender Men. Something is UTTERLY broken in this update regarding hostile mob spawning and it makes the game nearly unplayable. Not only that, but mobs seem to spawn in far more light than they used to, making it harder for a network of torches to be effective.
There are dozens of open issues related to mobs spawning and despawning incorrectly in the last handful of updates - do you think you could spare a developer from developing more monetizable content to take some time and fix the content that is already there? This game was so much more stable and fun before 1.9.
