Starting January 17, 2020 Minecraft app started freezing and crashing in game. This was prior to updating to the new iOS software. Attempted cycling power to phone, deleting and reinstalling app, and updating ios. Game now freezes on load screen. Issue seemed to start randomly and affected both my phone and my girlfriends phone. Same device and software.
